John L. Malchine /
(deceased) / 1936-2007
Mr. Malchine was a co-founder of
Badger State Ethanol and served on
our board of directors as chairman
of the board from May 2000 until his
death in March 2007. From 1954 to
1994, Mr. Malchine was a
self-employed farmer. From 1995 to
2002, John was the chairman of the
Wisconsin Agriculture, Trade and
Consumer Protection Board. From 1997
to 2007, he was a member of the
Board of the Wisconsin Tax
Commission, which regulates
agricultural assessments in
Wisconsin. From 1983 to 2007, he has
been a member of the board of
directors of a unit of M & I Bank,
in Burlington, Wisconsin. John has
served on local School Boards for 28
years. Mr. Malchine served on the
Board of Governors of the Southern
Region of the Aurora Health Care
System, which owns three hospitals
and 12 clinics in southern
Wisconsin. In May 1986 John was
given the Wisconsin Master
Agriculturist Award. In December
2000 John was presented the
Wisconsin Farm Bureau Award for
distinguished service to Wisconsin
Agriculture. In 2006 he was
appointed as co-chair of the
Biobased Industry Consortium by
Governor Jim Doyle. He was also
appointed to the College of
Agriculture and Life Sciences Board
of Visitors University of Wisconsin,
Madison. |

Gary L. Kramer / President
- General Manager
Dr. Kramer is a co-founder and has
served on our board of directors
since May 2000. Prior to co-founding
Badger State Ethanol, Dr. Kramer
served as president of Adkins Energy
Cooperative in Lena, IL from
December 1998 to April 2000. He has
spent over eight years studying the
ethanol industry developing broad
knowledge in plant development,
project finance, business structure,
and plant engineering and
operations. In 2005, he was a
recipient the prestigious Ernst and
Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award
along with a lifetime membership.
From 1973 to 2001, Dr. Kramer was a
veterinarian, and retired as
president and senior partner at
Chapin, Sutter, Chapin, Ltd., of
Lena, Illinois, a veterinary service
corporation employing eight
veterinarians. He received a
doctorate in veterinary medicine
from Iowa State University. He has
also served as a member in a number
of professional organizations,
including the American Veterinary
Medical Association, American
Association of Bovine Practitioners,
Illinois Veterinary Medical
Association, and Northern Illinois
Veterinary Medical Association. |

David Kolsrud /
Director
- Vice-President
Mr. Kolsrud is the general manager
and a member of the board of
directors of CORNer Stone Farmers
Cooperative, which he founded in
1995 and served as chairman until
2000. Mr. Kolsrud also continues to
work as a self-employed farmer, an
occupation he has had since 1973. He
also serves as chairman of the
Valley Springs Farmers Cooperative,
a farm supply co-op in Valley
Springs, South Dakota. He has served
on that board for 15 years and
served as chairman for the past 12
years. He previously served as
chairman of the Minnesota Coalition
for Ethanol. Mr. Kolsrud also serves
on the Board of Governors of AGRI-Energy,
LLC (a 12 million gallon a year
ethanol facility in Luverne,
Minnesota). He has served on that
board since 1997 and served as its
vice president until 1999. |

Nate Klassy / Director - Chairman of the
Board
Mr. Klassy recently retired as Director of Public Works for the City of Monroe, a position he held for over 14 years. Through this position, Mr. Klassy effectively directed the business of the city while at the same time establishing hundreds of contacts throughout Wisconsin. Nate continues to maintain contacts with several departments of the State of Wisconsin including the Departments of Transportation, Highways, Airports, Railroads, and DNR. Mr. Klassy serves on the Monroe Planning Commission and the Southwestern Regional Planning Commission, appointed by the Governor. Mr. Klassy is also on the Green County Solid Waste Board and Greenwood Cemetery Board, serving as chair on both.

Kevin Malchine
/ Director - Secretary
Mr. Kevin Malchine became President
of Malchine Farms, Inc. in 1993,
after working full time since 1979
with his father John Lee Malchine
and brother John Michael Malchine, a
family farm operation since 1854.
He has served on many local and
state Farm Bureau committees
including State Task Force for the
impending 2007 Farm Bill.
Currently, he is serving on the
Conserv FS Board that services
Southeastern Wisconsin and
Northeastern Illinois. He has
served on the Board of Directors
since 1999 and has served as
Treasurer from 2003 to 2006 and Vice
President since January 2007. Mr.
Kevin Malchine also has served his
local community on the Waterford
Union High School Board as Treasurer
since 2000 until 2004 and has served
as Vice President since 2005. He
has partnered with his brother John
Michael Malchine in a company that
has developed properties ranging
from subdivisions to an Industrial
Park. Mr. Kevin Malchine is the
youngest son of Mr. John Lee
Malchine, co-founder of Badger State
Ethanol.

O. Wayne Mitchell, PE
/ Director
Mr. Mitchell is CEO and President of
Merinus LLC, which provides
consulting services to the renewable
energy industry. He also serves as
CEO and Director of Further Fuels,
L.L.C., a fuel ethanol production
facility under development near
Grand Junction, IA. and is a
Director of Badger State Ethanol,
LLC, a fuel ethanol production
facility in Monroe, WI. Prior to
forming Merinus, he was Senior Vice
President, Technology and Business
Development for Fagen, Inc. from
June 2000 until January 2007. At
Fagen, he led the fuel ethanol
project group resulting in
development and construction of over
50 fuel ethanol projects with a
combined capacity of over 3.5
billion gallons per year. From May
1998 to June 2000, Mr. Mitchell
served as Process Team Leader for
Reilly Industries, Inc., where he
directed multidisciplinary teams
engaged in chemical process research
and development. From March 1998 to
June 2000, Mr. Mitchell was
President and owner of Solid Rock
Consulting, LLC, a private company
providing consulting services to the
ethanol industry. Solid Rock
Consulting, LLC is currently
inactive. From May 1996 to May
1998, he worked as Plant Manager and
Quality Assurance Manager for
Micronutrients, LLC, an animal feed
supplement manufacturer. Prior to
joining Micronutrients, from January
1993 to May 1996, he served as the
Design Engineer for Broin and
Associates, Inc. where he performed
detailed process design and start-up
of dry grind ethanol plants. From
August 1991 to January 1993, he
served as senior environmental
project engineer for Heritage
Environmental Services, Inc. where
he was involved in environmental
consulting and project management at
major oil refineries. Prior to
that, Mr. Mitchell served as an area
manager for Ethyl Corporation. Mr.
Mitchell has a B.S. in Chemical
Engineering from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. |
